RE:CONSTRUCTION | ALLIANCE FOR DOWNTOWN NEW YORK

Re:Construction is a public art and architecture program created by the Downtown Alliance that proposes to transform New York's downtown construction sites from urban blight into public attraction and alleviate the "construction fatigue" faced by the communities living and working around the ongoing redevelopment of Lower Manhattan. This initiative channels the energy of Downtown's rebuilding process by recasting construction sites as canvases for innovative public art and architecture.

Colab acts as both artistic and curatorial consultant providing supervisory arts, proposal, and production services and operates as an intermediary between Downtown Alliance and the artists, building developers, MTA, NYC DOT, and Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.

Re:Construction has been lauded by The New York Times, ARTNews, and other local, regional, and national publications. It was the recipient of a 2008 AIA Design Award. The Program is funded through a significant grant from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.
